From October 15th-18th we stayed in Hurricane, UT to visit St. George and Zion National Park.  Zion is incredibly beautiful and has some great hikes.  We started the first day early with a hike to Angel’s Landing (Johan went all the way to the top but I stopped at Chicken Lady Lookout just before the part with the chain started.)  Mad respect from me to anyone who has gone all the way to the top – I’ve discovered during this trip I have a fear of sheer drop offs, who knew?  The Emerald Pools hikes are shorter and less strenuous but still rewarding with the natural oasis at all three high, middle, and low pools.  We parked at Canyon Junction and rode the shuttle to the Temple of Sinawava and back down.  We didn’t hike The Narrows (wading for 1.9 miles in water with 5 million other pairs of dirty feet doesn’t interest me in the slightest, but we’ll have to go back one day so Johan can pursue toenail fungus).
